New Taillights on 2013 Enclave Are an Industry Innovation
The new 2013 Enclave comes equipped with new, advanced exterior lighting. Included in the new exterior lighting is a new innovation in taillights, brought to you by Buick engineers. The new taillights were developed with supplier 3M, and are the” next big thing” in LED taillights. The lights feature a “soft, uniform red glow in a complex and unique shape,” according to a press release from Buick. The new lights, much like the standard LED daytime running lamps and accent lighting, are part of a shift in Buick design that will be offered on many of their new vehicles soon.
“As a brand driven by intelligent design and technology, Buick has to be at the forefront of purposeful, modern design cues,” said Mark Adams, executive director of Buick Design. “Our signature LED lighting serves a double purpose of providing a premium look and making sure our vehicles are unmistakable in the eyes and mirrors of other drivers on the road. Some of the new Enclave’s design cues will carry over to other Buick models to come, but every execution will be true to each model’s character.”
The light supply company, 3M, is responsible for the production of the new signature glow of the Buick Enclave taillight. The lights will utilize the 3M Uniform Lighting Lens Technology. This new light technology is made with an innovative new precision engineered material. This material can provide lighting with even coverage across even the most complex shapes and uses fewer LEDs, which can save on both the complexity of the light fixture and the amount of energy that the light draws from the vehicle.
The 2013 Enclave will also feature new daytime running lamps in the shape of an L. In addition Enclave will utilize high-intensity discharge headlamps, which are much more effective and efficient than the traditional halogen lamps. Inside lighting on the new Enclave is new mood-setting ice blue ambient lighting. Enclave will feature a great new design feature: optional articulating headlamps, which will rotate to fit the curvature of the road.

It Pays to Know Your Warranties!
The problem is, which used warranty should a used car buyer purchase? Some used car buyers don't know there is more than one. There is often an assumption with any purchase that a warranty will automatically cover important and necessary problems that arise. Not all warranties are built the same, and an extended used car warranty may not provide coverage unless full protection available. Here is a look at the nine major types of used car warranties.
The powertrain warranty, also known as the "standard" warranty, covers most moving parts and the engine. It can cover the timing belt, drive axle, transmission, and CV joints. These are the essential parts of all vehicles, and should be top priority no matter what type of vehicle you purchase.
There is also the components warranty. It covers specific components that are specified in a specific warranty. This warranty can cover anything, basically listing a discounted repair price for the specific part covered. This is an especially important warranty if there is a specific part on the vehicle purchased that is likely to break soon after receiving much wear and tear.
Sometimes a buyer may have to purchase a separate warranty for a hybrid vehicle if they want hybrid parts covered. Hybrid parts can be more expensive, and are often not covered in a standard warranty.
Emissions warranty may be necessary. This warranty covers parts needed to pass current legal emissions standards for a given period of time. Look over a warranty for expiration dates and mile limitations the emissions warranty covers.
Sometimes a rust protection warranty may be purchased. This warranty is especially important if the buyer lives where rust is a common problem, such as in coastal areas. This warranty is not necessary in some regions, but if the buyer plans frequent trips to areas with high salt concentrated air then the rust coverage might be a good idea.
Separate warranties may also be purchased to cover battery replacement. Battery replacement may be covered by a full coverage or bumper to bumper warranty, but not always. Check to make sure this coverage is included or purchase it separately.
Bumper to bumper and full coverage warranties are somewhat similar. Full coverage encompasses many of the parts included in the other warranties listed here. It usually covers most major parts and often roadside assistance. Bumper to bumper warranties typically cover all other problems. This warranty covers anything left over from bumper to bumper like audio systems, electrical systems, and air conditioning.
In the end, only the buyer can decide what is best for them, but it may benefit a buyer to speak with the dealer about what warranty is best for them. An informed opinion can always help make the best decision. Each of these warranties has its benefits, and the decision depends on the type and age of the vehicle being purchased.

GM’s Latest Shocker News, Ewanick Resigns!
Forbes reports that GM spends about $40 million per year on Facebook marketing and according to the Wall Street Journal, GM in May decided to pull the advertising, they had on Facebook. GM states “We regularly review our overall media spend and make adjustments as needed. In terms of Facebook specifically; while we currently do not plan to continue with advertising, we remain committed to an aggressive content strategy through all of our products and brands, as it continues to be a very effective tool for engaging with our customers.”
GM also dropped a bombshell when they announced per Ewanick early this summer that they would not be advertising on the upcoming Super Bowl, which will be aired Sunday, February 3rd, 2013. This decision according to the Huffington Post was based on cost; CBS was charging approximately $4 Million for a 30 second advertisement. At the time, Ewanick said in a statement “We understand the reach the Super Bowl provides, but with the significant increase in price, we simply can’t justify the expense.” In regards to the Super Bowl decision, Edmunds.com analyst Michelle Krebs states “It feels premature for GM to make such a big decision, since GM will be launching a new line of 2013 full- size pickup trucks and full size SUV’s around Super Bowl time. Super Bowl is ideal for those vehicles and the timing is right.”
Only time will tell what the impact of these GM marketing decisions will be on the 2013 GM sales. In the meanwhile, GM dealerships around the country continue producing local ads in which owners, like Scott McCorkle of Scott McCorkle’s Liberty Buick GMC in North Carolina are featured. Local spots continue to be significant, regardless of what GM decides to do with the National advertising and marketing and dealers like McCorkle are counting on a big 2013 payoff.

2013 GMC Acadia Focuses on Space
Car and Driver describes the 2013 Acadia as "having sharper creases." Acadia has eliminated the soft, rounded nose and the recessed grill from earlier models. The new interior design includes LED lighting and GMC describes the refined interior as placing an "emphasis on soft touch materials with accent French stitching and red ambient lighting across the dash." And since safety is always a priority with GMC products, the rear vision camera is standard in the Acadia.
The Acadia debuted in 2007 and quickly became a hit with families. Last year was the best sales year ever and with the new improvements, GMC dealers like Scott McCorkle’s Liberty Buick GMC is hopeful that drivers will be eager to try the 2013 Acadia. The three rows of seating is a plus for families and groups, and all the gear for just about any outing or activity. The seating and cargo space is ample to get everyone and everything there in comfort with room to spare.
Considering finally building that tree house? The 2013 Acadia is the answer to hauling all the plywood. The 2nd and 3rd rows can be folded down completely flat to accommodate sheets of wood up to 48 inches wide to build the best tree house on the block!
