"Subject: Real-life use case: OnStar Stolen Vehicle Slow Down Technology

OnStar is proud to lead the industry with the most comprehensive suite of Stolen Vehicle Assistance services. Our exclusive Stolen Vehicle Slowdown® technology made a significant difference in the quick and safe recovery of a vehicle carjacked from an OnStar subscriber, Jose Ruiz, on Sunday, October 18th outside of Fresno, California.
Within 16 minutes of being notified, OnStar had successfully provided GPS location to Visalia Police, and remotely deployed Stolen Vehicle Slowdown to gradually bring the vehicle to an idle speed and prevent a high-speed chase. The story ends well, with no injuries despite a shotgun wielding assailant, and the subscriber got his Tahoe back the same day with no damage and personal effects inside. And, the Visalia Police Department caught the bad guy.

Liberty Pontiac-GMC Kicks off the Season with Mint Hill Athletic Association

Liberty Pontiac-GMC sponsors Mint Hill Athletic Association and helps raise thousands of dollars with a vehicle giveaway

Matthews (10/13/2009) – Liberty Pontiac-GMC of Matthews is partnering with Mint Hill Athletic Association to provide the league’s players and coaches with equipment, a monetary donation, and a chance to raise up to $10,000.

In support of Matthews’s youth, Liberty Pontiac-GMC will provide Mint Hill Athletic Association with football kits filled with equipment bags, water coolers, coaches’ clipboards and t-shirts.

Offering additional support to the community, the Mint Hill Athletic Association will have the opportunity to raise as much as $10,000 through a fundraising opportunity where one lucky recipient will win a new Buick, Pontiac or GMC vehicle of their choice (up to $33,500 MSRP). Liberty Pontiac-GMC and other Charlotte-area Buick-Pontiac-GMC dealerships are donating the vehicle to the participating leagues. One-hundred percent of the proceeds go directly to the participating leagues, and they can use the funds in any way they choose. Some of the leagues have reported they plan to grant scholarships to families who cannot afford to enroll their children in the league, while others have said they will use the funds to improve fields and equipment.

“Buick-Pontiac-GMC and youth football. It’s a great combination,” says Scott McCorkle of Liberty Pontiac-GMC. “We are proud to be able to help the kids in our community by donating equipment and giving them the opportunity to raise much needed funds for their league.
